Day of Memory (1/3/2018)

On Jan. 3, 1970, British missionary Gladys Aylward (艾偉德) died in Taiwan. An early practitioner of the Business as Mission model, in the early 1930’s Aylward and Jeannie Lawson operated The Inn of the Eight Happinesses in Yangcheng, Shanxi, and they shared with travellers stories about Jesus. Aylward became a Chinese citizen in 1936 and only returned to Britain when World War II started. She founded an orphanage in Taiwan in 1958 and was serving there until her death. Pray for Christians working in the business world in China to be wise and discerning, and to walk upright in the ways of the Lord. Hos. 14:9
